Great video! Of course I may be partial as I just bought one of these through ebay. I’m expecting mine this week and as advertised in the auction, it works and has no cracks. It also has the bone. The box would have been nice to have but I’m all out of room in my collection so it’s just as well that there’s no box. Ideal did make some big toys alright, I have the Astro Base w/box and Robot Commando. Thanks for uploading. – David

Pretty cool, I like the fact that gaylord actually picks up his feet, if you look at todays robot dogs like tekno and icybie, they kind of just slide their paws on the ground. This dog is a true all terrain dog, sounds like he uses a drill motor with a worm gear. If you like toy dogs, check out a hasbro furreal biscuit dog, they are really cool.

When my neighbor Lee got one of these for Christmas in 1962, I coveted my neighbor’s toy dog.

that thing is horrifying! It’s so loud, it’s like Godzilla

As a kid with a parent allergic to cats and dogs (thus preventing me from having either), you better believe this would have been at the very top of my Christmas list!!!

Wow, you must be an authority on Ideal Toys-NOT! If Ideal Toys stinks at making toys, then why are they so valuable? You obviously don’t know what you are talking about. This is the second video of mine that you’ve slammed. If you don’t like them, why do you continue to watch them?

I’m not sure, but Gaylord was a popular name in the 50’s and 60’s. At the time he was being sold in stores, the word gay had nothing to do with what it means today.

ePresty May 19, 2010 at 2:09 am

Why was is it called gaylord?

dezurtdude May 19, 2010 at 2:35 am

Wow, that’s an excellent price to get for a Gaylord. Congrats!

Charliebub56 May 19, 2010 at 2:58 am

I sold my Gaylord in box a few months ago on Ebay for $525.00. I was shocked at the high bids. GREAT Toy!!!
